About

Methow 2 is a plusher velvet than Methow 1; and, like Methow 1, is fabulous for upholstery or drapery – or Christmas stockings, purses, totes, pillow, clothing – whatever you would want to make out of velvet.

Eco Facts

In addition to being safe to use, Oeko-Tex certified fabrics have a skin friendly pH. If you took (and remember) your high school chemistry, you may recall that pH is the “Potential for Hydrogen,” and measures whether molecules give hydrogen atoms – meaning that they are acidic – or accept hydrogen atoms – meaning that they are bases (Think lye soap as in the Beverly Hillbillies). Most areas of your skin have a pH of between 4.0 and 5.8. When we say our fabrics have a skin friendly pH, we mean that they have a similar acid-base balance. This means the fabrics will fell lovely against your skin, not itching or stinging by being either too acidic or too base.

The Fabric Name

Methow is a river in Washington State, and it has given its name to a valley and an entire area that offers some of the best cross-country skiing anywhere.

Specifications

  • abrasion test results: 100,000 Martindale
  • care: Methow 2 is pre-shrunk and washable in any temperature. But use cool temps to preserve color, yarn strength, and to save energy.
  • certification: Oeko-Tex 100
  • content: 100% cotton pile; Warp is 64% cotton; 18% Tencel; 18% Recycled PET
  • directionality:

Non directional, but with velvet there is the issue of pile up or pile down.

For upholstery we recommend pile down.

For draperies we recommend pile up if the richness of the color is desired, although pile down is fine as long as all of the fabric is oriented the same direction. Roman shades, though, should be produced using pile up only in most designs.

For all applications, it is very important that whichever orientation is chosen – pile up or pile down – that all panels be oriented the same way.

Why choose us?

We've done the work for you

Over the years, Patty and Leigh Anne dedicated tons of time researching ethical and sustainable production—how it’s done, and what the implications are to us (and to all living things)  and to our planet.  They even put it in their mission statement, a goal “to change the way textiles are being made” – kind of a reach for such an upstart little company, right?
